This is a PRIVATE TOUR.
Depart from MC’s Germantown Campus for this fun-filled excursion to
enjoy the sights and sounds of the beautiful New England coast. Today we
will make our way north through the mountains of Pennsylvania, New
Jersey and the Hudson Valley of New York, through Connecticut to our
first nights lodging in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
This morning we visit the Kennedy Memorial on the harbor in Hyannis and
travel north to Plymouth Rock. After a visit to the rock for pictures
and memories, we’ll move on to visit the JFK Presidential Library. After
our visit, we will make our way to the heart of Boston to visit Faneuil
Hall Marketplace for lunch (on own). We will have a guided 2-hour
driving tour of the Liberty Trail. Then it is on to Salem to visit the
Salem Witch Museum and to do a picture stop at the House of Seven
Gables. After a little time on your own in Salem and grabbing something
to eat for dinner (on your own), we will make our way to our second
night’s lodging in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Leaving Portsmouth we will make our way to the rocky coast of Maine.
Driving the scenic drive along the coast with a stop and view some
awesome scenery including Neddick Light Station. This lighthouse was
built in 1879 for just $15,000. On a nub of land, thus it is named
Nubble Lighthouse. In Kennebunkport, we will get a view of the
Presidential compound where the Bush family loved to fish and boat. A
little time for shopping will help you stretch your legs. Then we will
visit the most photographed lighthouse in the U.S. at Portland Head
Light, a spectacular lighthouse authorized by President George
Washington. Then it is into Portland for a stop for a late lunch (on
own) and short tour of the city. Next, L.L. Bean and view some awesome
scenery along the way. We’ll stop for the night in Booth Bay Harbor,
Maine, where we will take a cruise on a lobster boat to see how the
lobster fishermen make a living every day. Dinner this evening will be
in a local restaurant overlooking the water and harbor (included).
As we leave Booth Bay Harbor, we will travel north to Acadia National
Park and visit the scenic Cadillac Mountain with spectacular views of
the islands and coast of Maine. We will stop for shopping in Bar Harbor
and before leaving the area, we’ll have a “REAL” Maine Lobster Bake
(included). Fresh out of the water with all the traditional trimmings.
You will love it. Then we will make our way to Bangor for the night
(dinner on own).
Day 5 As
we head south, we will see some heavily forested areas and mountains
through the inland area of Maine. We will make some fun stops, including
shopping time as we look for some of those last day treasures to bring
home. Tonight, we will stay at the fabulous Foxwoods Resort in
Connecticut. This resort began as a bingo hall in an old fire station
and has grown to a multi-million-dollar gaming and resort experience.
(One buffet meal included—breakfast or dinner.)
We make our way home with a book full of memories to share and
treasure. We will have a couple of fun stops on the way to Germantown
that will serve to inspire and delight. Be sure to get names and
addresses written down for the new friends you have made on this shared
exploration of the New England Coast!
